Career Development Events

Ohio ProStart hosts the following events throughout the school year:

VIRTUAL PUMPKIN CARVING COMPETITION 

Students will demonstrate their knowledge of, passion, and creativity to design and create a themed pumpkin using industrial culinary arts/food service techniques and equipment. Submitted entries will be judged by industry experts and top teams will be awarded prizes. This event runs through the month of October. 

   BURGER BATTLE

Students are invited to bring their best burger recipe to this cooking competition for your chance to be awarded the coveted Golden Burger trophy presented by the Ohio Beef Council. Teams will use butane burners to cook their burger and plate for industry professionals who will judge each team. The top teams will be awarded prizes. The Burger Battle is held in November.

MAC & CHEESE
 
Nestle Professional hosts Ohio ProStart and its students as they look for the next flavorful, marketable, and customized mac & cheese entrée. This exciting event features teams creating signature mac & cheese dishes judged by Nestle’s professional chefs. The winning team wins the famous mac & cheese trophy. This event is held in February.

OHIO PROSTART INVITATIONAL

This event brings teams from all over the state who work to win the title of the Best Culinary Team or the Top Management Team in the state. These two teams will then head to the National ProStart Invitational (NPSI) where they will compete against the top teams from the other 49 states. The 2024 NPSI will be held in Baltimore, Maryland in April. The Ohio ProStart Invitational is held in March.
INVITATIONAL
CREATIVE CAKES
Demonstrate your knowledge, passion, and creativity to design and create a themed cake to be viewed and judged by industry chefs. Demos by industry professionals will round out this day with the industry’s top cakes and people’s choice awards. This event will be held on April 23 and will be open to all Culinary and Hospitality CTE students. Interested in a demo, click here.
